work, work!

Dear blog readers.

Since the last blog was posted heaps of stuff has passed by. We will therefore honour you with some glints from the last week.

Antichambrering
We are now aware of the true meaning of the Swedish word antichambrera. We can with large confidence present several occasions when we have engaged in some serious antichambrering. For our non-Swedish and maybe even some Swedish readers we can inform that the word origins from the Italian word anticamera and the meaning is something like “waiting in an important person’s waiting room”

Swedish election
As most of you know the Swedish election has taken place and of course we as proud Swedish citizens had to do our best to support the democracy, vote! There were some issues that had to addressed though, our votes had to be in Sweden and not in Tanzania and also we would like to have a valvaka (gathering on the night of the election) to attend.

So first we would like to thank Birgitta for delivering the votes for us. Our hope was to get to vote at the embassy at the Election Day, but that was not an option. So we had to post vote and luckily we got some help to carry the letters back to Sweden and having them sent from there rather than from here. It was a good solution since the latter could have endangered the democracy.

Concerning the valvaka we were helped out again, this time from Thorwald and Louise. Mr Ambassador invited us to valvaka at his residence. None of us had neither visited a residence of an ambassador before, nor had the faintest clue what potentates to meet at such an event, which made it even more exciting. Strengthened from a day at the beach we took a shower, shaved and dressed before going to Mr Ambassador. When we got there, we were already known as the “mfs:are” and introduced to some of the around twenty guest at the valvaka as well as the snacks and drinks served. When the result came clear people started to drop out and finally the two guys also realised that it was time to leave, since everybody else already had. So in brief this election will go to the history as a fairly nice happening.

And the new rulers of Sweden has made it clear that the expences spent on foreign aid might be cut down, therefore we have decided to make our contribution to the masses. You find the evidence among the pictures in the other post. More specific we will try to extend our 5-days-plan to an 7-days-plan. Interesting how it will turn out.

Daladala
This medium of transport is best imagined as the game “sardines in a can”. For you who haven´t played the game, just picture 30 people in a Toyota Hiace suitable for nine people in Sweden. Also imagine these thirty people having a blast, when two musungos enters the bus and don’t really fit in, we don’t match the colour and we definitely don’t meet the requirements to be standing in such a vehicle.

Indian
On one of our visits to the beach we had the fortune to be picked up on our walk there. Our saving angles turned out to be very interested in the Swedish culture. And in order to get this right you now have to put away your beautiful English accent and switch over to a more genuine Indian accent. Then read the following quotes from our beloved friends;
-what is the percentage of divorces in your country?
-are you very sexual open minded?
-did you love the Italian girls as well?
This was said by an Indian couple in there early sixties. We had a good chat.

Flat tire
One of many things that differs Tanzania from Sweden is there maintenance of their vehicles. Today we saw a bus fixing something around the breaks with the help of a piece of wood, literally tying it to the break-drum. The other night when we travelled home from a bar we experienced our first flat tire. In addition we can point out the fact that it was in the middle of nowhere, one thirty in the morning and with a driver which left us with a short, “wait, I must fix this” and headed off. But we survived without any deeper impacts.

Mr Honey
The follow up on the previous mentioned guy Jonas was talking m-commerce with have now came to our knowledge. At a meeting with one of the local mobile operators we heard about “our” guy and that he had taken deep impressions from the m-commerce idea. This heated our hearts and gave us a good laugh at the same time.

Concerning ourselves we are fine and hard working.

With kind regards and big love!
Jonas and Lars

Ps. We have lost one phone so for a while the only number working is +255-755-543980.

Nimefurahi kukufahamu!

Tutaonana.

What about your mission? Havn´t heard much ´bout it! Getting rather stressed knowing that time´s just running. Jonas have just missed the great openingevent of "mitticity". Try the website http://www.mitticity.info to make virtual journey back to commercials! As the former primeminister sais: "we have woken up to a new Sweden ..." Work on!

And the new rulers of Sweden has made it clear that the expences spent on foreign aid might be cut down
